Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have impairments in social communications and restricted repetitive behaviors as core symptoms. They also have a high incidence of irritability, aggression, and hyperactivity. While there is no medication approved for core symptoms of ASD, risperidone and aripiprazole have been approved for irritability and aggression associated with ASD.
