A new specific and sensitive assay for thiothixene, using mass fragmentography, has been developed and used to measure plasma concentrations in psychotic patients on long‐term therapy. Drug plasma concentrations reach an early peak following an oral dose and decline slowly thereafter. Despite considerable differences in doses, peak plasma concentrations fall within a relatively narrow range, indicating that, during earlier ad;ustments of dose to achieve therapeutic control, optimum plasma concentrations were also being achieved.
