The antianginal effect of chromonar was investigated in patients with coronary artery disease. Results are presented from twelve clinical departments in North Atnerica, all of which followed an identical protocol and test procedure. The results from these institutions illustrate some definite effects of chromonar. Using the attack rate, nitroglycerin requirement, and exercise tolerance test, chromonar was followed by a reduction in the number of attacks and nitroglycerin reqUirements. There was some carryover when the sequence chromonar‐placebo was used in the crossover design. Side effects were minimal; laboratory data indicated no tOXicity. Clinical conditions associated with coronary artery disease, such as hypertenSion and heart failure, were without influence on the effect of the drug. The data point toward an interesting field of research since the mechanism of the beneficial effect of chromonar in angina is obscure.
