Extensive clinical safety studies indicate that one per cent haloprogin cream is safe for repeated topical applications. Its potential for irritancy, allergic contact sensitization, phototoxicity, or allergic contact photosensitization was low. There was no evidence of systemic toxicity elicited by repeated massive dermal applications. In dermal penetration studies it was concluded that the penetration of haloprogin through the skin was of a low order of magnitude.
