Psychoactive drug use was admitted by 14 per cent of 328 high school students (a 22 per cent sample) in a suburban town. The incidences of alcohol use, intoxication, smoking, and self‐medication with aspirin were severalfold greater. The frequency of nonmedical psychoactive drug use by the students was associated with the frequency with which they took aspirin.
