500 mg. tablets, Warning. Fatalities have occurred due to the development of Stevens‐Johnson syndrome (erythema multiforme exudativum) following the use of Sulla (sulfameter). Therefore, the patient must be closely observed, and should a rash develop during therapy with Sulla, the drug should be discontinued immediately. Sulla is a sulfonamide which maintains a long‐lasting blood level due to slow excretion. Because of the long‐lasting blood levels, a smaller dosage than is normally employed with shorter‐acting sulfonamides should be administered. Since the short‐acting sulfonamides are effective for the same conditions, their use should be ruled out before the long‐acting sulfonamides are employed.
