Failure of probenecid to inhibit the rate of metabolism of tolbutamide in man

A variety of drugs slow the rate of metabolism of tolbutamide and thus increase its hypoglycemic effect in man. Although it has been suggested that probenecid also has this effect, the present study demonstrates that this drug does not infiuence the metabolism of tolbutamide in human subjects.
