The vasoactive peptides have received considerable recognition and, as a consequence, symposia on the group as a whole are common. Here is one dealing only with the hypotensive or vasodilating peptides, whose role as a group is much less well established than that of oxytocin, vasopressin, and angiotensin (Hypertensin). The book presents the proceedings of an international symposium held in October, 1965, in Florence. It consists of some 60 papers and some desultory discussion. The papers are brief and informative, yet one ends up still wondering where the hypotensive peptides stand.
