Poison control center activity is a coordinated community effort the scope of which is dependent upon interest and the financial support available. Prevention and treatment are equally important aspects of every program. There is a tremendous need for research to improve treatment techniques, to develop appropriate experimental models, to improve data‐collecting techniques, and to find more effective methods for teaching preventive measures.
