This Correspondence, in response to an article published by Niederberger and co‐workers ( ChemPlusChem 2016 , 81 , 935–940), comments on misleading conclusions of the authors of that paper regarding the fate of the aqueous methanesulfonic acid electrolyte during photoelectrolysis performed using the WO 3 photoanode. It is shown that the suggested formation of the acid dimer is in striking contrast with numerous literature reports.
