Out of the blue : A reaction‐based two‐photon probe XanCu (see scheme) is reported for the selective detection of Cu + in reducing aqueous environments. Copper(I)‐mediated oxidative benzylic ether (CO) bond cleavage offers “switch‐on” detection of the metal ion.
