The catalytic activity and selectivity of bimetallic surfaces often differ significantly from those of the pure metals. T. Diemant et al. demonstrate the modification of the electronic and chemical (CO adsorption) properties of bimetallic PtAg surfaces when going from a separated (Ag film/Pt(111)) to an intermixed (PtAg/Pt(111) surface alloy) morphology and what happens for surfaces of an intermediate state. This is illustrated in the cover picture by using the example of CO desorption (indicating also the changes that already occur during the desorption run). More details can be found in the Articles by T. Diemant et al. on page 2943 in Issue 14, 2015 . (DOI: 10.1002/cphc.201500528 ).
