The cover picture displays the structure of the oxygen‐evolving photosystem II from Thermosynechoccocus elongatus, the protein that catalyzes the light‐driven splitting of water into protons, electrons and oxygen. This function is accomplished by the protein and its embedded cofactors forming an antenna system for capturing sunlight, an electron transfer chain and the catalytic site consisting of four Mn and a Ca ion. On page 1160 W. Saenger, A. Zouni et al. review the recent progress in the structure determination of this unique molecular machine.
