The cover picture illustrates the technique of multiple transmission‐reflection infrared spectroscopy (MTR‐IR) which is used to obtain high quality spectra of molecular monolayers adsorbed on silicon and on ultra‐thin metal‐oxide coated silicon surfaces at both p ‐ and s ‐polarizations. This reliably determines the dichroic ratios of some vibrational modes for the adsorbed species, and thereby their relative orientations to the surface. In their article on page 1979 S.‐J. Xiao et al. use MTR‐IR to monitor the kinetic assembly process of alkanephosphate monolayers on a macroscopically flat TiO2‐coated silicon surface.
