A platinum‐free H 2 /O 2 recombination catalyst , Ti 0.99 Pd 0.01 O 2− δ , is synthesized by a solution combustion method where Pd 2+ ions adsorb protonic H 2 δ+ ion and oxygen on the oxide ion vacancy sites (see picture). The rate of H 2 +O 2 recombination at 50 °C is 15 μmoles g −1  s −1 , which is much higher than that of Pt‐containing catalysts.
