Activating bonds: A cold plasma generated by dielectric barrier discharge in a microreactor converts alkanes (C 1 –C 3 ) at atmospheric pressure (see figure). Large amounts of products with higher molecular weight than the starting hydrocarbons are observed showing that CH activation at lower T favourably leads to CC bond formation.
