Spherical hydrocarbons : Perhydrogenation of icosahedral fullerenes, C 80 and C 180 , produces remarkably stable C 80 H 80 and C 180 H 180 fulleranes (see picture). The authors show that the controlled synthesis of the fulleranes opens up a new branch of chemistry through their functionalization.
