Intriguing Pt 3 structures observed on the Pt/γ‐alumina catalytic system by atomic‐resolution Z ‐contrast scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) are investigated with first‐principles calculations (see electronic densities in the Pt 3 plane with and without the capping OH group).
