Spectroscopic shifts : Gold nanoparticle films (see picture), modified with biferrocene‐terminated alkyl thiolates (Au n ‐BFc), with average core diameters of 2.2, 4.3 and 6.4 nm, exhibit a collective surface plasmon (SP) band that includes interparticle interactions and results in peculiar spectroscopic shifts with applied potential and surrounding solvent. These shifts are different from those of single particles.
