Many industrial and scientific applications are characterized by the interaction of different disciplines, such as fluid–structure interactions. For the individual disciplines sophisticated and validated solvers exist. This paper describes basic ideas, implementation details and application of MpCCI (mesh‐based parallel code coupling interface), a tool for the coupling of different simulation codes.
