Abstract There exists such an abundance of visual poetry in nature in the realm of light and color, it would seem desirable to integrate our joyful appreciation of it with human designs. At our nonprofit organization of artists and designers, the Margaret Gate Institute, we have explored light and color concepts in order to beautify once barren, visually monotonous interiors, specifically in mental institutions. How we have brought our artistic and intuitive understanding of light and color to institutions follows.
