Various colorant‐formulation methods were compared by their probabilities for accuracy of color prediction after pseudo‐generalizing their previously developed piecemeal forms to a constant form by two methods: one is the reference‐color method by which the scattering coefficient of a colored material can be estimated; the other is the colorani‐mixture‐equation which determines a linear relationship of the optical property given by a color‐recipe equation between colorants to be used in a matching mixture. A result from the comparison of the methods is that one form of the Love‐Oglesby‐Gailey equation, (K/S) = (0.9 ‐ R) 2 /R, has considerable usefulness for computer‐color‐matching (CCM).
