This note describes a way of extending the physical lights inside the spectrum locus to supersaturated colors related to them by a Von Kries transformation. The extension is one‐way but quantitative: One can see a supersaturated light in a given state of chromatic adaptation, and one can compute its chromaticity through a proportion based on three physical lights, but one cannot further connect the perception and the computed chromaticity to test the adaptation model that is used to make the construction. The construction may nonetheless be useful in delimiting the chromaticities that are computed as intermediate states in a color‐management system.
