Lead halide perovskites have drawn enormous interest due to their exceptional photovoltaic and optoelectronic properties. However, the toxic heavy metal lead is harmful to humans and the environment resulting in a need for strategies to replace this toxic element. This article reports the synthesis of cesium germanium halide perovskite nanocrystals and explores the effects of manganese doping on their properties. The cover image depicts the rhombohedrally distorted unit cell formed when lead is replaced by germanium.
