RANS closure models (Reynolds Stress Model, RSM , and the standard k –ε model) are tested in the present study for their ability to predict the mean features of a free turbulent round jet expanded into a triangular collar. Although the jet is turbulent and three dimensional, the predictions show that the RSM closure is able to nearly reproduce published experimental data. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
