Abstract The vascular antomy of the rat's hypothalamus was studied using the method of the India ink injections. A constant vascular pattern was found and a serial description of it is given, correlated with the nuclear and fibrilar anatomy in a system of stereotaxic coordinates. It was found that the vessels supplying certain areas follow a relatively long course and the hypothesis is advanced that their lesion could produce vascular disturbances in areas distant to that in which the electrode had been placed. Some previous results by other authors are discussed on these grounds.
