Because The Paris System for Reporting Urinary Cytology includes results that are categorized as unsatisfactory/nondiagnostic , definitions for this category are needed across all urinary specimens (voided, instrumented) and preparation types. The study herein by VandenBussche et al is the first attempt to tackle this adequacy issue in voided urine specimens, but it raises further questions that hopefully will be clarified by collaborative efforts of the cytopathology and urology community.
