The process of providing quality cancer care, particularly among patients with gynecologic cancer, is a complex one. Insurance coverage for specialty gynecologic oncologist care is critical, but attention also must be paid to the other aspects of multidisciplinary cancer care and supportive care services, the value of keeping patients in their communities, the rapidly rising costs of providing care in the academic/tertiary care setting, and the financial burden of cancer care to patients.
