Can the morbidity of cystectomy be justified in elderly, sick patients? Certainly, cystectomy is associated with significant complications, which appear to be more pronounced in the elderly. However, in experienced hands, cystectomy appears to be safe; and in high‐volume centers, only 1% of patients are deemed too ill to tolerate cystectomy.
