The addition of ultrasound guidance to the pathologist's fine‐needle aspiration biopsy armamentarium can improve sampling and patient care, not only for biopsies of the thyroid, but at other tumor sites as well. Good ultrasound‐guided biopsy skills are no more difficult to learn than good smear‐making skills.
