18 F‐fluoro‐2‐deoxy‐D‐glucose–positron emission tomography (FDG‐PET)/PET‐computed tomography diagnostic studies may play a potential role in the staging and restaging of patients with cervical cancer. Recent work has demonstrated another important aspect of FDG‐PET in predicting the prognosis for patients with cervical cancer according to their maximal standard uptake value at baseline; thus, it may be possible to develop more aggressive treatment strategies for high‐risk patients based on pretreatment PET studies.
