The Cover Feature illustrates the possible applications of different types of radioactive decay in cancer imaging and therapy. Metal radionuclides delivered to the cancer site can be utilized in various ways. The upper half of the image highlights the diagnostic modalities Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). The emission of alpha particles and electrons in tumors and their metastases—as shown in the lower half—leads to irreparable damage and eventually cell death making them powerful options for targeted cancer treatment.
