The inside cover picture shows a molecular conjugate incorporating a nitric oxide (NO) photodispenser and a masked fluorescent unit within the same molecular skeleton. This conjugate causes photoregulated NO release leading to remarkable mortality in cancer cells and the generation of a strongly fluorescent coproduct that serves as an optical reporter for the NO concentration released.
