A 52‐year‐old man presented with atrial flutter and was found to have an atrial septal defect (ASD). The paper describes an effective surgical approach for the treatment of this atrial arrhythmia utilizing a right sided Cox‐maze EI procedure concomitant with ASD closure. Review of the literature and clinical implications are discussed.
