Normal anatomic and histologic features of the sinus node, atrial myocardium, and interatrial conduction of the cardiac impulse are reviewed. The controversy surrounding atrial conduction via specialized atrial cells versus specific in‐ternodal tracts (between sinus and atrioventricular nodes) is discussed.
