Maximal oxygen consumption [(VO2) max ] was measured on three separate occasions over8 years in 12 healthy men. The decline in (VO2) max with age was less than noted in previous studies and was smallest in men taking regular physical exercise. The presence of ST depression during or after exercise did not influence the decline in> (VO2) max .
