Novel ion exchange membrane brings many new applications, including the salt concentration in zero liquid discharge process, the valorization of salt into acids and bases with bipolar membrane electrodialysis, H 2 production, and a chemical free NH 3 capture by the integration of bipolar membrane electrodialysis and hallow fiber membrane contactor and among others. Their fabrication routes include the construction of ion conducting channels, dynamic transfer regions, and intrinsic microporosity in the matrixes of ion exchange membranes and among others.
