A green, efficient and convenient N ‐heterocyclic carbene‐catalyzed procedure for the synthesis of novel 2,3‐dihydroquinazolin‐4(1 H )‐one derivates via condensation of o ‐aminonitriles and various carbonyl compounds was described.
