Phytochemical investigation on the whole plant of Elephantopus tomentosus Linn. led to the isolation of two new sesquiterpene lactones, tomenphantopin E ( 1 ) and tomenphantopin F ( 2 ). The new compounds were completely elucidated using a combination of 1D, 2D NMR technique (COSY, HSQC, HMBC and NOSEY), and HREIMS analysis.
