1,10‐Phenanthroline, a simple and cheap N , N′ ‐type ligand, was found to work well as the ligand of CS coupling catalyzed by Cu 2 O. The corresponding coupling products were synthesized in good to excellent yields (75%–99%) in DMSO at 80°C. A variety of aryl halides and thiols were investigated and satisfactory results were obtained.
