3‐Aminopropyl silica gel (I 2 /APSG) was found to catalyze the acetylation of alcohols and phenols efficiently with acetic anhydride. The reaction is mild and selective with high yields. A wide variety of alcohols and phenols are selectively converted into the corresponding acetates using I 2 /APSG under solvent‐free conditions at room temperature.
