A new kind of π‐conjugated heterocyclic poly(Schiff base) was firstly prepared by the condensation reaction between tetrathiatetrahydropentalene‐type diketone and bithiazole‐diamine in good yields. The polymers were characterized by VPO, FTIR and 1 H NMR spectroscopy. A large bathochromic shift was observed in UV‐Vis spectra for these polymers due to the π‐π* transition in the conjugated main chain. Brief examination indicated that the nitrogen‐ and sulfur‐containing polymers exhibited an excellent chelating tendency to metal ions and the corresponding polymeric complexes would be expected to have potential in applications.
