In the presence of CuCl 2 , N‐ (2′, 4′‐dienyl)‐2‐alkynamides can be converted to α‐alkylidene‐σ‐butyrolactams under the catalysis of palladium(II). In this reaction, CuCl 2 is used to oxidize Pd(0) to regenerate Pd(II), or the carbon‐palladium bond is quenched by the oxidative cleavage reaction of CuCl 2 .
