Based on the structure of Go6976, a known isoform‐selective protein kinase C inhibitor, a benzofuran analogue (1) was designed. This analogue was synthesized by coupling of benzofuran 3‐acetic acid and 8‐oxo‐tryptamine and subsequent intramolecular Dieckmann condensation, alkylation, oxidative photocydization and cyanation reaction of mesylate.
