In search of novel pyrazole derivatives with bioactivity, a series of 3‐methyl‐1 H ‐pyrazole‐4‐caboxylic: ester derivatives were synthesized via α‐oxoketene dithioacetals as starting material. The structures of all compounds prepared were confirmed by l H NMR, IR, MS and elemental analyses. Preliminary bioassays indicated that some compounds showed fungicidal activity against wheat rust, phoma asparagi and antiviral activity against TMV .
