The TiO 2 gel doped with UO 2+ 2 and Eu 3+ has been prepared by a sol‐gel method. The quenching of the UO 2+ 2 emission by Eu 3 + and the energy transfer from the excited state of UO 2+ 2 to the ground state of Eu 3+ have been investigated. The energy transfer has been studied by the measurement of luminescence lifetime τ, calculation of energy transfer efficiency W ET and energy transfer rate η ET . The experimental results indicated that the quenching is combined static and dynamic mechanism, but the static mechanism is dominant.
