A new facile synthetic method for the preparation of α‐sulfonylphosphonates based on the phosphorylation of carbanion derived from sulfones bearing an active methylene group was described. Condensation of the resulting sulfonyl phosphorus ylides with aldehyde or ketone in situ gives α,β‐unsaturated sulfones with satisfactory yields.
