Perfluoroalkyl iodides 1a‐1h reacted with sulfite radical anion (SO 3 − ) generated from the Ce 4+ ‐NaHSO 3 system in water‐acetonitrile at 70°C and pH 3‐4, to form perfluoroalkyl sulfinates 2a‐2h, in 70‐85% yield. Similarly, α, ω‐perfluoroalkylene diiodides (1i, 1j) gave the corresponding di‐sulfinates 2i and 2j respectively.
