Two new and convenient methods using triphenyl phosphite or sodium dithionite to deoxygenate triphenylarsine oxide to triphenylarsine are described. 31 P NMR spectra was used to study the reactivity of triphenylphosphite and triphenylphosphine in deoxygenating triphenylarsine oxide, pyridine‐ N ‐oxide and dimethyl suhoxide and the influence of complex MoO 2 [S 2 CN(C 2 H 5 ) 2 ] 3 on the reactivity. The mechanisms of above reactions are briefly discussed.
