The film theory was used to determine the mass transfer coefficient for the cross‐flow filtration of guar gum solutions. We investigated their variation with cross‐flow velocity and concentration. Comparing the experimental results with the Sherwood correlation generalized for power law fluids and with two models found in the literature led to the evaluation of an effective diffusion coefficient for each model. This parameter was shown to depend on cross‐flow velocity and concentration.
